West Ham are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen forward Patrik Schick, according to the Mirror.

The tabloid claims that the Hammers are “exploring” whether a deal can be negotiated for the Czech international during the January transfer window.

Schick has been in superb form for Leverkusen, having racked up 16 goals in 14 Bundesliga appearances, which is three more than Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

However, the 25-year-old only moved to Leverkusen in September last year, and he is on a long contract so he will likely command a high transfer fee.

The Mirror believe West Ham may have to stump up £40m if they want to secure Schick’s services next month. It is a sizeable figure but, if they can raise the funds, the striker is likely to be interested in the move.

He has expressed a desire to play in the Premier League in the past, with the likes of Tottenham, Everton and Crystal Palace having been linked in previous transfer windows. We shall see if the Irons do make a bid in January.
