West Ham defender confirms Joe Hart’s departure from the London Stadium

Declan Rice has all-but confirmed that Joe Hart will not extend his stay with West Ham United.

Hart joined the Hammers on a season-long loan last summer, but has endured a difficult season – failing to establish himself as the club’s number one choice between the sticks.

The Englishman has twice been dropped from the squad by manager David Moyes this season, with the Scot preferring Adrian – who started all four of West Ham’s final games of the season – in the net.

Hart’s poor form also means it is becoming increasingly likely he will miss out on this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Had the move gone to plan, it was expected the 31-year-old would move to the London Stadium permanently this summer – with their being no place for him in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad.

However, defender and team-mate Declan Rice appears to have confirmed Hart’s departure via Instagram.

Rice posted a photo of the two together, saying: “What a guy. Going to miss him more than anything!

“Been unbelievable to me this season! Love you brother.”

The post has since been deleted.

Rice, 19, has broken into the Hammers side this season and become a regular under manager David Moyes, making 31 league and cup appearances for the east Londoners.
