West Ham And Arsenal Vying To Sign £22m Rated Bundesliga Defender

West Ham and Arsenal are both interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt defender Martin Hinteregger, according to the Football Insider. The website reports that the Austrian has been impressing scouts with his performances this season.

Despite being a centre-back, the 27-year-old has already scored four goals this season, including three in his last three appearances, coming in a 2-1 win against Standard Liege, a 4-2 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach and a 5-1 win over Bayern Munich.

Being left-footed, Hinteregger would slot in perfectly alongside Issa Diop in the centre of defence, as well as providing Manuel Pellegrini with another option instead of Angelo Ogbonna.

The Hammers have not been the best defensively this campaign, having already conceded 17 goals in 11 league games. Whether Hinteregger would be a solution to their defensive problems, it is debatable.

Frankfurt have let in 15 in their 10 league matches this season, and with the Austrian international reportedly valued at £22m, that is a costly outlay for someone who may not improve their backline.
