West Ham Among Three Premier League Sides Chasing French Ace

West Ham one of three Premier League clubs interested in Sampdoria forward Gregoire Defrel, according to reports in Italy.

Watford and Fulham are also believed to be keen on the Frenchman, in addition to Serie A side Atalanta.

Sampdoria have recently signed Manolo Gabbiadini from Southampton and deem Defrel surplus to requirements.

The 27-year-old joined the Italian club on a temporary basis from Roma in July, but he could have his season-long loan spell cut short this month, despite the Blucerchiati having the option to sign the Frenchman in the summer.

Defrel hasn’t been in bad form this campaign. Since joining Sampdoria, he has scored seven goals in 21 games. However, he has not scored for the club since early and has started just one league game since late November.

The striker could be a possible replacement for Marko Arnautovic. The Austrian has been linked with a move to China this month.
