West Ham Among Four Clubs Pursuing £6m Rated Swiss Midfielder

West Ham are one of four teams keeping tabs on Stuttgart midfielder Steven Zuber, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Hammers have joined Nice, Roma and Lazio in the race for the 27-year-old, with his club battling relegation.

Zuber only signed for Stuttgart from Hoffenheim in January, but the Bundesliga club may have to offload the Swiss international if they don’t manage to secure safety through a relegation playoff. He could be sold for as little as €7m (£6m).

The left-sided midfielder went through a purple patch between mid-February and mid-March, scoring five goals and providing one assist in five matches for his current club.

Since then, however, he hasn’t been able to provide any assistance in front of goal to help Stuttgart in their relegation fight. He has missed the German side’s last three league games due to a knee injury.

Zuber is capable of playing in a number of positions. He can play as an attacking midfielder, a central midfield player as well as a left winger.
