West Ham Among Five Teams Weighing Up Swoop For Cut-Price Algerian International

West Ham are involved in a five-time battle for Porto winger Yacine Brahimi, according to reports in Portugal.

The Algerian international is out of contract at the end of the season and could sign a pre-contract agreement as early as January.

However, Porto are keen to sell Brahimi when the transfer window reopens so they don’t lose him for nothing in the summer.

The 28-year-old’s availability has not only piqued the interest of the Hammers, though, with Newcastle, Everton, Marseille and Lazio all said to be looking at the player.

Brahimi remains a regular first-team player at Porto, having started 15 matches in all competitions so far this campaign, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

The midfielder has been picked exclusively as a left winger this season but has played as a central midfielder and on the right-hand side during his career.

It may be the case that West Ham are looking at Brahimi as a possible replacement for Andriy Yarmolenko. The Ukrainian winger is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the campaign with an Achilles injury.
