We will “fight to the end” says Marko Arnautovic as relegation looms for West Ham

West Ham United’s Marko Arnautovic insists he and his team-mates will “fight to the end” as they look to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

After a terrific end to last year, the Hammers have managed only two wins in the Premier League since the start of 2018 – a run of form that sees them sit only three points clear of the relegation zone.

Troubled ensued at the London Stadium during the Hammer’s most recent defeat to Burnley, when numerous fans chose to invade the pitch throughout the game, while others chose to turn their attentions to owners David Gold and David Sullivan in the owners box – some throwing objects at the pair in their anger.

In what is a troubling time at the club, Marko Arnautovic has insisted he and the rest of the players will do everything in their power to keep the Hammers from going down.

“We need to work hard and come back and finish the end of the season strongly,” said the Austria international speaking with the club’s official website, “Until now, so far, it was not how we wanted it.

“We have to work hard, we have to stay together, like we are doing this week, until the end of the season because it’s going to be really hard for us.”

Despite being so close to the relegation zones however, the former Stoke City man – who joined West Ham in the summer as a club record signing – insists there is still time to turn things around with eight games remaining.

“Of course, we try to turn things around. I understand the fans’ disappointment. They expect us to win those games at home and we didn’t.” he continued.

“I think it was really hard for the players, but also for the fans and everyone involved. But my message to everyone is to keep everything together.

“Everybody who wears this badge has to stay together and fight until the end of the season. I think we’re going to do our best to come out of this.”
