United Backed To Make £40m Summer Swoop For West Ham Star Following Solskjaer Appointment

Manchester United are interested in signing West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, according to reports in the UK.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now having been installed as the Red Devils’ permanent manager, the Norwegian is targeting young homegrown players to strengthen his squad.

Rice could be the subject of a £40m offer from United this summer, with the Manchester club also targeting Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

Whether such a figure would be acceptable to the Hammers, it remains to be seen. The 20-year-old made his full England debut against Montenegro on Monday night following an excellent first season as a regular starter.

West Ham are likely to fight tooth and nail to keep Rice, who only signed a contract extension to remain at the London Stadium back in December, committing himself to the club until 2024.

So far this campaign, the midfielder has made 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and contributing one assist.
