West Ham are only “£3m-£5m” away from Ajax’s asking price for Mohammed Kudus, according to insider ExWHUEmployee.

The trusted source wrote on the West Ham Way Patreon that the Hammers’ move to sign the Ghanaian international has not stalled and another bid from David Moyes’ side is expected:

“At this stage, no deal has been agreed. Although it’s understood that the gap currently is around £3-5m. A difference of that kind of figure would usually get sorted, whether it be meeting somewhere in the middle, or adding in clauses or maybe paying fees in a shorter period of time. I would say as of now it’s unlikely that the deal is off, and I would say it likely that talks will resume with a revised bid being submitted.”

There were reports late last week that suggested sporting director Tim Steidten flew out to Amsterdam in order to agree a deal for Kudus but it looks like more negotiations are required.

Other Premier League teams have considered buying Kudus, with Chelsea having enquired about the player’s availability. After failing to snap up Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, there is a danger that the Blues could switch targets to the Ajax forward, so any delay from West Ham could prove fatal.

Arsenal were also known to be interested in the 22-year-old but the injury sustained by Jurrien Timber means the Gunners will focus their attention on buying a defender before the transfer window shuts.

Are alternatives to Kudus being considered?

If the Irons do fail to agree a fee with Ajax, the club have been looking at other options. Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri (who has been on West Ham’s radar for a number of years), is being considered once again.

Reports claim the Hammers have re-entered talks to sign the Moroccan but we shall see if those discussions lead to anything concrete.
