“Isn’t A Done Deal” – ExWHUEmployee Issues New Update As West Ham Line Up Move For 32 Cap International

West Ham have yet to make a final decision on whether to re-sign Jesse Lingard, according to ExWHUEmployee.

As the former Manchester United player is a free agent, after leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of last season, he can be snapped up outside of the transfer window. Lingard was recently involved in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Leicester as the Hammers look to make up their mind about handing him a short-term deal, However, Ex told the West Ham Way Patreon that Lingard is still not guaranteed a contract:

“A final decision is still to be made on his future and it is not known whether this game will have any bearing. Our source, as we said above, said he was good in parts but didn’t have a huge impact and did get subbed off.”

“The feeling is still he will be given a short-term contract at the club but this won’t be issued until he is fully fit but this is still waiting confirmation and isn’t a done deal.”

Lingard struggled at Forest

West Ham supporters will have fond memories of the forward’s loan spell at the London Stadium. The Englishman, who has been capped 32 times by his country, was outstanding during a six-month stint in 2021.

Lingard scored 9 goals in 16 appearances before returning to Old Trafford. After another season sitting on the bench in Manchester, he then joined Nottingham Forest, where things didn’t work out so well.

Over the course of 12 months at the City Ground, he made 20 appearances, scoring just twice.

West Ham will be taking a chance on the player

At Forest, Lingard looked like a shadow of the player he was, and Irons boss David Moyes would be hoping that a return to a club where he had a lot of success could reinvigorate him.

It’s sensible that West Ham are taking their time before deciding whether to re-sign the 30-year-old.
