‘Superb Window, Well Happy’ ‘Left Us A Bit Short On Depth’ West Ham Fans Deliver Verdict On Summer Signings

West Ham have concluded their transfer business for the summer and most supporters are happy with the players that have been brought in.

While some fans on X are concerned about the lack of depth, the majority feel that the new additions will improve the squad overall:

West Ham have put the money from Rice’s sale to good use

After selling club captain Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105m, the £120m spent on recruiting the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Konstantinos Mavropanos looks like very shrewd business.

Signing Kudus from Ajax a massive coup, particularly as he was also being pursued by the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal earlier in the summer.

In Alvarez and Ward-Prowse, the Hammers have effectively replaced Rice with two players. The former will shore up the team as a defensive midfielder and the latter adding more creativity. Although Mavropanos was clearly not first choice, as the club made multiple attempts to recruit Manchester United’s Harry Maguire, the Greek international could end up being a better addition in the long term.

No new additions in two key positions

There is no doubt that manager David Moyes would have wanted a striker to come in, but he will now have to rely on Michail Antonio and Danny Ings.

The Irons could have done with bringing in a new left-back as well but, ultimately, no opportunities presented themselves on deadline day.
