West Ham are interested in signing Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
There had been reports in Italy that the Hammers had already tabled an €18m (£15.5m) bid for the Swiss international but Romano says David Moyes’s side have only made an enquiry, along with a number of other teams:
Understand West Ham are among clubs interested in signing Denis Zakaria. He’s back to Juventus after Chelsea loan. ⚒️ #WHUFC
West Ham asked for informations on conditions of the deal — but there are many clubs in the race.

Supporters on Twitter would be open to Zakaria making the switch to the London Stadium but some are concerned about the former Chelsea loanee’s fitness record:

Juve are set to sell Zakaria this summer
Chelsea did have an option to sign the midfielder on a permanent basis for €33m but the Blues opted against keeping the player. With his parent club clearly not interested in keeping him, he is very much on the market.
Juventus are expected to offload Zakaria for less than Chelsea’s purchase clause but it remains to be seen how much they are prepared to let him go for.
West Ham do have other midfield targets
Zakaria is by no means the only midfielder that the London club are pursuing. Valencia’s Yunus Musah, Fulham’s Joao Palhinha and Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher have also been heavily linked.
Out of the players being looked at, though, it seems that Zakaria would be among the cheapest, due to Juve’s keenness to get rid of him.
