Sky Reporter Reveals Chelsea Star Is Keen On West Ham Switch As “Talks” Over £21.5M Transfer Are Held

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is open to joining West Ham, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Hammers have been weighing up a surprise move for Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka but Plettenberg claims that Gallagher is deemed a more realistic target after “talks” with the player were held:

The fact that West Ham are looking to do a deal for between €25m (£21.5m) and €30m (£26m) is quite surprising, considering previous reports that Chelsea would hold out for around £45m to £50m.

It could well be the case that David Moyes’ side are hoping to agree a fee for Gallagher at the price range that Plettenberg mentions, but the offer may still be rejected.

There are rivals for Gallagher’s signature

As Plettenberg says, Borussia Dortmund were keen on the England international but it appears they have cooled their interest in the player.

The likes of Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Everton have also been linked with Gallagher in the past so we shall see if any of these three teams step up their interest.

West Ham are considering bids for other midfielders

As well as Gallagher and Goreztka, it has been reported that the Hammers have had a £45m bid rejected for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha. With the Cottagers demanding in excess of £60m to sell the Portuguese international, it seems unlikely that a deal will be agreed to sign the player.

Ajax’s Edson Alvarez is also believed to be on the London club’s radar, and there is an expectation that an offer will be lodged for the Mexican as well.
