Although captain Mark Noble, Sebastien Haller and Felipe Anderson stole the headlines with their goals in the 4-0 rout of Bournemouth, the consistent performances of Angelo Ogbonna have continued to impress West Ham fans.
The Italian was once again in good form as the Hammers kept a priceless clean sheet yesterday evening, and supporters believe he is in the running for the club’s player of the year:
He was superb, a total rock at the back!

Bloke just looks bigger, stronger & quicker than ever! He was decent under Moyes before but this is a new Ogbonna.

It's between him and Noble for HOTY 2020 so far….

Amazing to think how many so called fans wanted Ogbonna out of the club less than 12 months ago.

He is my hoty so far, if I had been told that in August I'd have thought you were on crack.

Loved him last night. Big up Oggy! @OgbonnaOfficial

Fair play to him. He’s added consistency to his game, something I always thought he lacked in previous seasons. Keep it up @OgbonnaOfficial, brilliant stuff.

A lot can happen over the second half of the campaign, and we might see the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Anderson and Haller put in some stellar performance in upcoming games, but Ogbonna’s consistency will make him a strong contender for the award.
The 31-year-old was not always a favourite under previous coach Manuel Pellegrini but he performed well during David Moyes’ first stint as manager and he looks as though he will continue in the same vein during the Scot’s second spell in charge.
