Goalkeepers and defenders tend to have extended careers but, with the odd exception, it’s much rarer to see a striker or even midfielder reach their late 30s and still be a goal threat.

All five on our list were 38 years of age or older when they bagged their last goal in the English top flight, which demonstrates their longevity at the highest level.
