London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) have confirmed that they are willing to sell the naming rights for the London Stadium to West Ham.
LLDC Chief Executive Lyn Garner has said that the Hammers could be handed the rights if they were willing to hand over £4m a year.
Supporters on Twitter had a mixed reaction to the story. Some believe that the naming rights will go straight to a sponsor anyway, while others feel that the name should reflect West Ham’s past:
They will sell it on obviously. Like, the Amex. Everyone will complain, but will bring in extra income

I kind of hope it stays the same as there is a pretty high chance they rename it something like the Betway stadium 💀

The Betway Bobby Moore Stadium would be more likely.

It will be interesting to see whether the club’s owners would be willing to do a deal with LLDC over the rights. As some fans have mentioned, selling them to a sponsor could raise a good deal of cash for the Irons.
Naming the ground after a legendary player instead would be warmly received but we shall have to wait and see how the club approaches the matter.
