These three Premier League targets would be perfect additions for West Ham

West Ham face a testing summer ahead as they look to bounce back from a disappointing debut campaign at the London Stadium and show fans that the move can breed success, which means significant changes are key.

The Hammers have already made early moves in the transfer market by bringing Pablo Zabaleta on a free transfer from Manchester City, adding significant experience to their defensive line, but the Hammers still need to add additional quality to their ranks.

West Ham’s ambition means they need to secure relatively big names to help push them towards success but that will certainly be difficult due to the stature of clubs they will have to rival within the Premier League for prime targets.

Slaven Bilic’s side seem prepared to spend the cash this summer though and they’ve been linked with moves for Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Everton’s Ross Barkley and Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford in recent days.

Nigerian striker Iheanacho, just 20, would be a significant addition to West Ham’s attacking lines and the striker could be available due to Gabriel Jesus’ phenomenal rise at the Etihad Stadium- leaving Iheanacho out of the picture.

Manchester City would be unlikely to sell to a top-six rival, which boosts West Ham’s chances of a deal, and his arrival would resolve the striking issue that the Hammers have had all season- where they’ve lacked a top-class striker.

Elsewhere, securing Ross Barkley from Everton would be a major statement of intent and would help the club fill the void left by Dimitri Payet’s departure in January, creating an exciting partnership with the likes of Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini- who, crucially, both seem set to stay in East London.

Finally, the addition of Jordan Pickford between the sticks would give West Ham a major boost to their goalkeeping ranks, improving an area where they have been shaky this season, and the 23-year-old could enjoy a phenomenal rise at the London Stadium.

Crucially, the trio of Premier League targets are all 23 or under and can become the faces of the new-look West Ham side that’s fighting to claw their way to the top of English football- and they’d also provide tremendous sell-on value, which is crucial to West Ham’s investment.

The Hammers need to take a leaf out of Southampton’s book by ensuring they get good money for departing players and have ready-made replacements within the squad, whilst they also need to follow Everton’s mould and spend to secure the top-players necessary.

With the right summer, West Ham could enjoy a sensational season next term and this trio of targets would certainly give the fans something to get excited about.
