The Top Five Most Accurate Shooters In The Premier League This Season (Based on Shots On Target %)

After previously assessing the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League this season, basing our rankings on a goalkeeper’s save percentage, we thought it would be interesting to see which players in the Premier League are the most accurate at shooting.

It must be pointed out that the most precise finishers don’t necessarily have to be strikers or even midfielders as you will see on this list.

However, the vast majority of players who lead the way on this metric in the top flight can be classed as forwards.

Press the next page as we countdown the top five most accurate shooters in the Premier League (based on stats provided by fBRef).

5) Kurt Zouma – Chelsea (56.3% of his shots on target)

The defender’s inclusion in the list is a surprise but nine of his 16 shots for Chelsea this season have been either scored or saved by the opposition keeper.

Zouma’s 25% conversion rate is also excellent, having hit the back of the net four times in the league for the Blues since September.

4) Karlan Grant – West Brom (56.3%)

The Baggies paid £15m to secure the 23-year-old’s signature back in October, and his one goal in 17 appearances seems to suggest things haven’t worked out.

However, Grant is actually a very accurate shooter, but it seems to be the case that West Brom are simply poor going forward. He has only managed the same amount of shots as Zouma.

3) Diogo Jota – Liverpool (60.9%)

The Portuguese international has been a revelation since he made the switch from Wolves to Anfield in the summer, and it seems his accurate finishing has played a key role in his success.

Jota has hit the target in 14 of his 23 attempts on goal in the Premier League, scoring six of them in the process.

2) Alexandre Lacazette – Arsenal (62.2%)

The Frenchman has been in and out of Arsenal’s starting lineup this campaign, but his shooting stats suggest he should be picked more often.

Lacazette is excellent at hitting the target, and the fact that he has scored 11 goals in total shows he is pretty clinical as well.

1) Chris Wood – Burnley (64.1%)

Not many would have put the New Zealander at the top of this list but remarkably his accuracy is 29.8% higher than the Premier League’s top scorer Harry Kane.

The two big differences between the two are shot count and shot conversion. Wood has had 60 fewer shots in the Premier League this season and has converted 15% of his shots to goals, compared to Kane’s 17%.
