The TOP FIVE Highest Paid Right Backs In The Premier League

After looking at the highest paid goalkeepers in the English top flight last week, we now move on to the right-backs.

The fullback position has increased in importance over the years, especially with the 4-3-3 system having been increasingly favoured above the more traditional 4-4-2.

With the onus being on the right-back to provide the width and create chances from crosses, their value has grown, and their salaries have also gone up as a result.

Press the next page as we name the five best paid right-backs in the Premier League (based on data from Capology.com).

5) Kyle Walker – Manchester City – £110K A Week

You would think that the 32-year-old would be on a higher wage, considering he is a regular starter for both club and country but (believe it or not), he is only the fourth best paid English right-back on our list.

Walker has won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and four League Cups during his time at the Etihad so he probably wouldn’t swap the success he has had for more money.

4) Kieran Trippier – Newcastle – £144K A Week

The Magpies did a great piece of business when they beat off the competition to sign the fullback from Atletico Madrid for only £12m earlier this year.

Trippier did pick up an injury which has limited his game time somewhat since arriving at St James’ Park but his experience will prove invaluable for Eddie Howe’s team.

3) Cesar Azpilicueta – Chelsea – £150K A Week

The Blues captain was actually keen on leaving Stamford Bridge this summer but he was persuaded to stay and sign a new contract, keeping him in London for another two years.

Azpilicueta has already given a decade of service to Chelsea but there are signs at 33 years of age that he isn’t the player he once was, which suggests he may now become more of a squad player for manager Graham Potter.

2) Trent Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool – £180K A Week

Although he has been criticised heavily for his recent form, the 23-year-old’s stats since breaking into the first team in 2017 are quite phenomenal.

Alexander-Arnold averages a goal or assist every three matches in his senior career, which is incredible considering where he plays on the pitch.

1) Reece James – Chelsea – £250K A Week

Chelsea’s new owners have decided to hand the right-back a bumper new deal keeping him at Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2027/28 season.

It is a massive show of faith in James who has quickly become one of the best fullbacks/wingbacks in world football over the past few years.
