The TOP FIVE Highest Paid Left Backs In The Premier League

After going through the best paid centre-backs in England in last week’s post, we now move on to the left-backs.

Finding a talented fullback, especially one that is left-footed, is no easy task and it is not a surprise that the best ones can earn pretty high salaries.

The top two on our list today actually play for the same club, while no Manchester City and Liverpool players make it into the top five.

Press the next page as we countdown the highest earning left-backs in the Premier League (based on data from Capology.com).

5) Kieran Tierney – Arsenal – £110K A Week

The Scotland international’s abilities have been widely heralded by pundits over the years, but his fitness problems have meant that he has never managed to reach his full potential.

At 25 years of age, Tierney still has time on his side but, after the Gunners signed Oleksandr Zinchenko in the summer, he now faces a battle to keep his place in the first team.

4) Luke Shaw – Manchester United – £150K A Week

The 27-year-old has had his ups and downs during his time at Old Trafford, to say the least. He was heavily criticised by Jose Mourinho but his confidence grew during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s spell in charge.

Following the Norwegian’s departure, though, Shaw has found things more difficult, and new manager Erik ten Hag currently only sees him as a backup for Tyrell Malacia.

3) Lucas Digne – Aston Villa – £163K A Week

The Frenchman’s falling out with Rafa Benitez led to him leaving Everton in January, and he is certainly being rewarded handsomely by his new employers Aston Villa.

It is fair to say that Digne has yet to meet expectations with his performances, although four assists in 24 appearances is not a bad return for a fullback.

2) Marc Cucurella – Chelsea – £175K A Week

Chelsea really went all-in when they paid Brighton £62m for the Spaniard’s services in the summer, and they didn’t hold back on giving the player generous personal terms either.

Considering Graham Potter has now been appointed the Blues’ manager, you would think that he will be able to get the best out of Cucurella.

1) Ben Chilwell – Chelsea – £190K A Week

Despite rarely being picked for England, the defender is certainly appreciated by his club, who made him the best-paid left-back in the Premier League when he arrived from Leicester two years ago.

A serious knee injury did set Chilwell back last season, but many expect him to play a key role for Chelsea if he recovers his best form.
