Today, we are starting a series of posts looking at the highest paid player in every position at Premier League clubs.
In this post, we will be looking at goalkeepers. For some reason, clubs don’t tend to pay their number ones the salaries demanded by their outfield stars, although there are exceptions.
Some of the keepers on this list are not actually first choice for their teams, which suggests they may now regret the decision to recruit them.

The Spurs captain signed a contract extension back in January which means he could spend TWELVE seasons as the London club’s first-choice between the sticks.
Lloris probably deserves to be on a higher wage, considering the service he has given Tottenham but, as we mentioned in the intro, keepers don’t usually get bumper contracts.
The Frenchman is currently second choice to Lukasz Fabianski. He will likely only play in domestic cup competitions and the Conference League this season.
However, Areola could well replace Fabianski as number one in the not-too-distant future, with the Polish veteran having less than twelve months remaining on his current deal.
It’s not a surprise to see one of the Premier League’s best keepers so high up on this list, especially as the Brazilian only signed a contract extension last year.
Alisson has contributed greatly to Liverpool’s success in recent campaigns, having won every trophy that English football has to offer.
The Spaniard remains the world’s most expensive keeper so it was logical that he was also given a high salary to match. However, he has spent most of his time in England as an understudy.
Kepa started out with a decent season under Maurizio Sarri, but struggled during Frank Lampard’s first year in charge, leading to him being replaced by Edouard Mendy.
United’s decision to hand the Spaniard a lucrative contract back in 2019 has not really borne fruit. The keeper’s form has dipped alarmingly in recent years.
De Gea’s current deal expires at the end of this season, although the Red Devils do have the option to extend his stay until 2024.
