The TOP FIVE Highest Paid Attacking Midfielders In The Premier League

Following our look at the best paid central midfielders last week, we will now move on to attacking midfield players.

Creating chances at the highest level is extremely difficult and so finding talented footballers who can pick out a pass or whip in a cross from out wide with deadly precision is vital.

Playmakers are valued commodities, and there are no less than three players in our list today who earn in excess of £200,000 a week.

Press the next page as we go through the top five highest earning attacking midfielders in the Premier League (based on data from Capology.com).

=4) Bernardo Silva – Manchester City – £150K A Week

The first of two City players in our top five, the Portuguese playmaker has been a very influential player since making the switch from Monaco in 2017.

Manager Pep Guardiola has used Silva in multiple different positions, including out on the wing, but his creativity means he is always a danger no matter where you put him on the pitch.

=4) Lucas Paqueta – West Ham – £150K A Week

The recruitment of the Brazilian international was seen as something of a coup for the Hammers, with the player having also been linked with Arsenal and Manchester City.

Paqueta’s adaptation to English football has been somewhat slow but there have been some very promising signs in recent matches, especially during the 3-1 win over Fulham where he got an assist.

3) Jesse Lingard – Nottingham Forest – £200K A Week

The 29-year-old controversially opted to sign for newly promoted Forest at the start of this season, and some supporters have accused him of moving to the City Ground simply for financial gain.

After 0 goals and 0 assists from his first nine appearances, Steve Cooper’s side are certainly not getting value for money from Lingard at the moment.

2) Bruno Fernandes – Manchester United – £240K A Week

The Portuguese international was a revelation when he first arrived in England. After joining from Sporting Lisbon during the 2020 January transfer window, he scored eight goals and provided eight assists in 22 appearances.

Fernandes’s first full season in this country was also very impressive, scoring 28 and creating 17 goals. His productivity has reduced substantially over the past fifteen months, though, leaving many to question the wisdom of the contract extension he was handed back in April.

1) Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City – £400K A Week

Considering he is one of the best attacking midfielders of the Premier League era, it is only right that the Belgian is on a very high salary.

De Bruyne has scored 87 goals and contributed an incredible 132 assists in 321 appearances since he arrived at the Etihad from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015.
