The Top Five Forwards In The Premier League So Far This Season

With the Premier League season now reaching its closing months, we have decided to take a look at which players have stood out in terms of their performances.

In this article, we assess the forwards. We haven’t necessarily ranked them in terms of the number of goals they have scored but it has had a bearing on their position in this list.

Some of the usual suspects have been scoring regularly this season, but we have included a couple of surprises too.

Press the next page as we look at who we think are the top five forwards in the Premier League this campaign.

5) Patrick Bamford (Leeds)

Considering the striker has even been criticised by his own fans for his poor finishing ability, the 27-year-old has been proving his critics wrong following Leeds’ return to the top flight.

Bamford has scored all types of goals this season, with his hat-trick against Aston Villa back in October a particular highlight. 13 goals makes him the third-highest scorer in the league so far this campaign.

4) Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)

The 34-year-old is defying the ageing process as he seems to be getting better with every year. The Foxes veteran may have benefited from a fair few penalties this season but he is still a major threat.

Vardy’s pace continues to scare defences, despite the expectation that he should be slowing down now he is nearing the end of this career. The fact that he is still scoring so many goals at the highest level, though, suggests he is a long way from hanging up his boots.

3) Son Heung-Min (Tottenham)

We could have gone for Harry Kane but we have chosen his South Korean teammate instead as he has been in scintillating form for most of the campaign.

In all competitions, Son has got himself double figures both for goals and assists, demonstrating he is an excellent all-round player whom any manager would be glad to have at their disposal.

2) Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton)

The striker has undergone a transformation under Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti. Before the Italian’s arrival at Goodison Park, Calvert-Lewin was known as a hard-working forward who struggled for goals.

He is now become an excellent finisher, scoring 13 in the league this season. England manager Gareth Southgate has also handed him some well-deserved caps over the past 12 months.

1) Mo Salah (Liverpool)

Even though it has been a disastrous campaign for the Reds so far, the Egyptian international continues to bang them in at a rate of knots.

Salah has scored 17 league goals, two ahead of his nearest rival, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, in the battle for the Golden Boot.
