The three key signings Slaven Bilic needs to secure for West Ham need this summer

West Ham’s summer has certainly started off very busy, with the club securing Michail Antonio down to a new contract, assuring Slaven Bilic of his future at the club and signing Pablo Zabaleta on a free transfer from Manchester City.

That’s given the Hammers a huge boost ahead of what will be a testing summer for the East London side, as they look to bounce back from what was a disappointing maiden campaign at the London Stadium and fight for a spot in the Europa League.

Zabaleta’s arrival gives West Ham a huge boost defensively and the news that Antonio is staying is another key piece of business, whilst it’s also vital that the Hammers keep hold of the likes of Manuel Lanzini and Pedro Obiang amidst prying eyes from rival Premier League sides.

Further additions need to be made this summer though and Slaven Bilic should have a shopping list of players he wants to sign- and it needs to include a new top-class striker, a new first-team goalkeeper and a player capable of filling the void left by Dimitri Payet’s exit in January.

West Ham have been heavily linked with the services of Manchester City starlet Kelechi Iheanacho, as well as Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi, and either of the pair would slot in perfectly in Slaven Bilic’s side- but a move for Nigerian ace Iheanacho would be more significant as that’s likely to be a permanent deal.

With Iheanacho leading the line and the likes of Lanzini and Antonio providing support from behind, West Ham’s attack would look far more threatening- although there is still the need to fill the big hole left by Dimitri Payet.

French ace Payet was a player capable of conjuring up a piece of magic from nowhere and West Ham need that sort of inspiration to provide a boost to their side, as every other side in the Premier League chasing European football is able to boast that.

Securing a player of Payet’s calibre certainly won’t be easy but there’s plenty of options out there and an opportunity to move to the London Stadium could be difficult to turn down if the Hammers offer regular first-team football ahead of a World Cup year.

Finally, Bilic has stated that he’s happy with his options between the sticks but West Ham need a top-class goalkeeper if they are to climb up the standings and this is the perfect summer to do business as there is plenty of players on the move.

Manchester City’s Joe Hart could be the ideal fit, especially as the Hammers would offer the first-team football he needs to secure his position as England’s number one next summer, and his experience would be invaluable.
