West Ham have asked Manchester United for striker Anthony Martial in exchange for Issa Diop, according to reports in the English media.
The Red Devils are said to be keen on the Hammers defender but stopped negotiations after Director of Football Mario Husillos reportedly demanded Martial as part of the deal.
Supporters on Twitter are happy with how West Ham are handling the Diop situation:

Exactly the right way to handle this.
Unless he is unhappy it would be a terrible decision to sell him.

Don’t it just show you where we have come over the last 3 years . Let’s hope this puts a message out there that we are in it to win it not to just be a number

Any player can be sold… bit the club doesn't "need" to so you make sure you make it sos painful as poss for the approaching club. Also, asking for their best players reinforces the no need to sell.

This is good news that the club has now adopted this approach with players

husillos is the guy hahaha

I like this approach. You want one of our best? We will have one of yours. We could usurp Man United this season if we show the ambition now… they’re in a right mess.

This says we are not a selling club anymore. Come on you hammers ⚒

It is believed the Irons may let Diop leave if a £60m offer is made but it’s clear that the club would rather the 22-year-old stay put.
Diop is said to be happy at the London Stadium, and while he would like to play in the Champions League sometime in the future, he isn’t in a rush to leave the Hammers this summer.
West Ham signed the centre-back last July from Toulouse for £22m, with the Frenchman having made 38 appearances last campaign, scoring two goals.
