The Four Right Backs That West Ham Could Sign Before The Transfer Deadline

West Ham are actively looking to sign a new right-back before the transfer window closes on Friday night. Manager David Moyes only has veteran defender Pablo Zabaleta available at the moment with Ryan Fredericks still sidelined with a hamstring injury.

An attempt was reportedly made to secure Tottenham fullback Kyle Walker-Peters on loan but he is now expected to sign for Southampton.

The Hammers have been scouring the globe for other potential targets, but four names, in particular, are believed to have risen to the top of the club’s shortlist.

Rasmus Kristensen

A bid has reportedly been made for the Red Bull Salzburg defender, but it remains to be seen if the Austrian club will accept the offer.

Kristensen came through the academy at FC Midtjylland before moving to Ajax in 2018. He did not make a first-team breakthrough with the Dutch club, though, and he moved to Salzburg last summer.

Joakim Maehle

Another Danish player, the Racing Genk fullback has been playing in Belgium for two and half seasons following a move from Aalborg.

Maehle is the same age as Kristensen at 22-years-old, but he could be available for a lower price than his fellow countryman.

Matty Cash

There were reports that Nottingham Forest rejected an offer from West Ham for the Englishman but those claims were later denied.

Cash was a winger before being converted into a fullback by manager Sabri Lamouchi this season. He would likely cost a lot more than either Kristensen or Maehle but he is a young player with a lot of potential.

Gonzalo Montiel

Reports in Argentina have suggested that West Ham had a loan to buy bid knocked back by River Plate for the fullback.

Montiel is a fully-fledged Argentinian international and would come to the London Stadium having won three continental titles despite only being 23.
