The FIVE Quickest Players In The Premier League This Season

Speed is not everything in the modern game, but due to the pace of the Premier League, it is a vital attribute to have if you are to make it at the top level.

Many may assume that the fastest players are all forwards or wingers, but this list proves that is not necessarily the case.

Two stars in our top five are centre-backs, and one of them actually grabs the top spot. Not many will be able to guess who it is.

Press the next page, as we count down the five quickest players in the English top flight.

5) Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) – 36.1 Kph

The England international is the first of three forwards on this list and his speed causes defences a whole host of problems.

Watkins’ form this season hasn’t been as scintillating as his first campaign for Villa, but his seven goals in 26 league appearances is not a bad return.

4) Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool) – 36.2 Kph

The Frenchman was the Reds’ only summer signing but he appears to have the pace to keep up with the speed of the English game.

Konate also has the physicality to match and, despite only arriving on Merseyside back in July, it seems he is already very much at home in the Premier League.

=2) Adama Traore (Wolves) – 36.6 Kph

The Spanish winger may have moved on loan to Barcelona in the January transfer window but he was still among the quickest players in the top flight during the first half of the season.

Traore is lightning quick with the ball at his feet on the counter-attack but his end product has always left a lot to be desired.

=2) Mo Salah (Liverpool) – 36.6 Kph

The best forward in the Premier League is close to being the quickest player too. Whilst he is not always able to get a head of steam, with teams mostly sitting deep against the Reds, he can still let loose when needed.

Salah’s speed, combined with his quick feet and speed of thought, make him a very difficult player for opposition defenders to stop.

1) Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea) – 36.7 Kph

The German, somewhat surprisingly, comes out on top of this list. He recorded his top speed in the 1-1 draw against Brighton earlier this season.

Rudiger is a top-drawer defender but Chelsea are at risk of losing him this summer, with the 29-year-old’s current contract set to expire at the end of the season.
