The 60-year-old has probably managed more teams in the top flight than he probably deserved to. He did get West Ham promoted to the top flight, as well as guiding them to a FA Cup final.
However, he didn’t enjoy a great spell with Charlton Athletic, failing to avoid relegation. At Newcastle, he did receive the Premier League manager of the season award for finishing fifth, but his time at St James’ Park ended under a cloud. He had a similarly promising start at Crystal Palace before being sacked, and he lasted just four months in his last spell with West Brom.
