The FIVE Clubs With The Highest Average Attendances In The Premier League This Season

London Stadium

The English Premier League has the second highest average attendance in the world behind the Bundesliga.

There is very rarely an empty seat at a top-flight game, with fans travelling in their droves to watch their favourite team every week.

In today’s post, we will be looking at the five English clubs who have brought in the biggest crowds during the 2022/23 season (based on data from Transfermarkt).

Press the next page as we reveal the teams with the highest average attendance.

5) Liverpool – 53,230

The new main stand at Anfield was opened in 2016 and it has increased the Reds’ average attendance by nearly 10,000.

There is currently development underway on the Anfield Road End, which will boost the ground’s capacity to 61,000.

It means that Liverpool will likely move up this list in the coming years but not as much as you might think.

4) Arsenal – 60,205

The Emirates has been the home of the Gunners since 2006 and it wasn’t a ground that was well-liked originally.

Some have said the stadium lacks character compared to Highbury, with its generic bowl design pretty similar to others around the world.

However, with Arsenal challenging for titles again, the atmosphere has ratcheted up a few notches and it is now a great place to experience a Premier League game.

3) Tottenham – 61,654

Spurs spared no expense when they knocked down White Hart Lane and built the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Its state-of-the-art design makes it one of the most advanced stadiums in the world, but it does seem to have kept the atmosphere of Spurs’s old ground.

The cost of building it exceeded £1billion and it remains to be seen whether the debt that the club have been saddled with will affect the club’s progress on the pitch.

2) West Ham – 62,458

The Hammers took up residence in the 2012 Olympic Stadium in 2016 and there has been a lot of debate among supporters about whether the move away from the Boleyn Ground was the right decision.

West Ham are effectively tenants, with the London Legacy Development Corporation the owners, and it has meant that the club haven’t been able to make as many changes as they would have liked.

Considering the ground is packed to the rafters every week, though, it shows you the huge fanbase that the Irons have.

1) Manchester United – 73,886

Old Trafford remains the largest club stadium in the UK, with regular full houses meaning United hold a 10,000 plus lead in average attendance over any other Premier League team.

However, the ground is in need of redevelopment, and there has even been some speculation that the Theatre of Dreams could be torn down and rebuilt from scratch.

That decision will, though, rest with United’s next owners, whoever they will be.
