The fans can inspire first victory insists West Ham’s Michail Antonio

Michail Antonio says the West Ham fans will have a huge part to play this weekend as Manuel Pellegrini’s side go in search of their first win of the Premier League season.

The Hammers travel to Goodison Park on Sunday to take on Everton, where they will be hoping earn their first points of the new season after four consecutive defeats.

Pellegrini’s side were thrashed 4-0 on the opening day by Liverpool, and defeats to Bournemouth, Arsenal and Wolves in the weeks that followed have left them rock bottom of the table.

Antonio however, who has started three of the club’s four games so far, insists he and his team-mates won’t be downhearted by their poor start to the campaign and has urged the fans to remain behind the team.

“We’re confident going into every game,” he insisted. “We believe in our squad and believe in what we’re doing. We just need to get those first three points on the board.

“We need the fans to stay behind us and our away fans always do that. They are always there and always singing for us and I am sure we can reward them on Sunday.

“We will go to Everton and play our game and play the best we can. We know anyone in the Premier League can beat anyone and it’s unpredictable and we definitely believe we can go to Goodison Park and get the three points there that will really kick start our season.”
