The Best Performing Player At EVERY Premier League Club PART ONE

Today, we are starting a series of articles looking at the best performing player at each of the 20 clubs playing in the Premier League.

To make this as objective as possible, we have decided to use Whoscored.com‘s metrics to decide who is currently the top performer with every team.

Some of the names on this list may surprise you, while others certainly will not. It is, nonetheless, an intriguing insight into player ratings in the top flight.

Press the next page as we name the best performing player at Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton and Burnley this campaign.

Emile Smith Rowe – Arsenal (7.02)

It has been a breakout season for the 21-year-old, who has scored four goals and provided two assists in 12 Premier League appearances for the Gunners.

Smith Rowe is strong playing off the left-flank or through the middle of the pitch, and he has become one of Arsenal’s key playmakers.

Douglas Luiz – Aston Villa (7.00)

The Villans have had a quite difficult start to the campaign so not many players have really stood out in terms of putting in outstanding performances.

However, Luiz has been one of the club’s more consistent players in the middle of the park. The Brazilian is great at breaking up play, as well as being strong when in possession.

Ivan Toney – Brentford (7.38)

After scoring 33 goals in all competitions for the Bees in the Championship last campaign, it isn’t a surprise to see the striker translate that form into the top flight.

Of course, it has been more difficult for Toney to score goals, due to the higher level of opposition, but he did get his third league goal of the season against Newcastle at the weekend, and he has other strengths, including holding up the ball and creating chances for others.

Shane Duffy – Brighton (7.16)

The Irishman was widely mocked in Scotland after an ill-fated loan spell at Celtic last season. He returned to the Seagulls with his tail firmly between his legs.

However, Duffy has bounced back very strongly for Brighton, with Graham Potter’s three at the back system helping to mask any deficiencies in the centre-back’s game.

Dwight McNeil – Burnley (7.25)

This was a very close run thing on WhoScored, with Max Cornet (7.23) nearly coming out on top, but McNeil has continued to impress on the left flank for the Clarets.

While he may only have one assist to his name so far this campaign, the 22-year-old is consistent with his deliveries into the box and he is a constant menace for opposition fullbacks.
