Chelsea have made an enquiry to sign West Ham forward Michail Antonio on loan this month, according to The Guardian reporter Jacob Steinberg.
Due to the club’s injury crisis in attack, the Blues did ask about Antonio’s availability, only for the Hammers to reject the approach, with it being made clear that the player can only leave on a permanent basis.
Considering Antonio’s poor form this season, some fans on Twitter would have been happy to see him leave while others were just surprised that Chelsea were genuinely interested in the 32-year-old:
take him please

It’s a very strange story, to say the least. Antonio has performed extremely poorly this campaign, with just two goals in 18 Premier League appearances.
This seems to sum up Chelsea’s rather haphazard transfer policy, with the club having recruited Joao Felix on loan and signed Mykhailo Mudryk for an eyewatering sum. From the Hammers’ point of the view, they will likely be waiting for a better offer for Antonio from Wolves, who are said to be interested in the striker.
