Sutton Pinpoints One Key Reason Why West Ham Are Heading For Relegation

BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton thinks West Ham’s nightmare fixture list over the coming weeks could condemn them to the drop.

At the start of the season, Sutton predicted that Sheffield United, Brighton and Aston Villa were the likeliest to be relegated, but he has now revised his prediction and included the Hammers in his bottom three to go down:

“I suspect it will be Norwich, Villa and West Ham who lose their Premier League statuses this season. You may find it most surprising that I can see the Hammers dropping down. Their squad is supposed to be too good to go down, right?”

“But if you asked your Alexa to tell you a fixture list from hell, I suspect she’d come back at you with West Ham’s run: Manchester City (a), Liverpool (a), Southampton (h), Arsenal (a), Wolves (h), Tottenham (a) then Chelsea (h). They are already third bottom. Where will they be after all those? What will the mood in the camp be like?”

That run of fixtures will strike fear into any Irons fan who looks at it. You could perhaps see the team getting a win against Southampton, a draw away at Arsenal and perhaps get something against Chelsea, but the rest of the games are looking rock hard.

With West Ham already in 18th place, and with teams around them having far easier fixtures in the same period, these are concerning times for Hammers supporters.

There were some good moments versus Brighton but defensive errors proved costly and they will have to tighten up if they are to get some points on the board.
