Sky Sports Pundit Compares West Ham’s Attacking Line Favourably With Liverpool

Sky Sports pundit Phil Thompson has praised West Ham’s attacking foursome of Sebastien Haller, Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Manuel Lanzini. The former Liverpool defender compared them favourably to Liverpool’s attack:

“I really like the forward line if they can keep them fit. Sebastian Haller, Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko are all threatening, and then you have to take into account Manuel Lanzini.”

“It takes you back to Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho – West Ham have Lanzini as their fourth, just like Liverpool did. It is an attacking and potent side.”

Although they have a fair way to go to be on the same level as those players, you can see what Thompson is getting at in terms of the wide range of options at manager Manuel Pellegrini’s disposal.

Haller has started his spell with the Hammers strongly with four goals in seven league appearances, while Anderson continues to impress with his creativity from the left-wing.

Lanzini has gone off the boil in recent weeks but he started the campaign in good form, but the standout of the four so far has to be Yarmolenko who has been a constant threat on the right-hand side of the pitch.

The Ukrainian international has been a man on a mission since returning from a serious Achilles injury and has been the most consistent performer of the lot.
