West Ham United fans were dismayed as their team fell to a late FA Cup defeat at the hands of Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United – several of them took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the match.
While some fans were understandably dismayed at the late goals conceded by their team, others took solace in the fact that West Ham can now concentrate on staving off relegation.
However, certain audiences were massively disappointed with the outcome, lamenting the chances that the Hammers missed throughout the game.
West Ham sickener but the last thing we needed was extra time. AND (to be honest) more games in the FACup on top of Europa Conference. Unfortunately, avoiding relegation is THE prize for this season.

Massively disappointing defeat as West Ham more than held our own against Man United this evening. Perfect example of exactly what will happen when you don’t take chances at this level. Antonio’s missed chances unacceptable at this level whether he’s a natural striker or not.

Played them off the park for long periods. Can take a lot of positives from that.

2 good halves of football is too much to ask for. Hunger, desire, attack, and then nothing after the Benny goal…why stop what worked so well in the first half? Reduced press, repeated misplaced passes, complete composure failure. Big fumble.

That’s heartbreaking. Almost cried with the last 2 goals. Under 8s quality defending.

We had them and then we sat back after bringing on Bowen which you can’t do against them. We play like we did the first 60 minutes the whole game it would be us 3-1 winners

West Ham started the game well, defending resolutely and breaking when the opportunity presented itself. A wonderful strike from Said Benrahma gave the Hammers the lead, but an unfortunate own goal from Nayef Aguerd levelled the scores.
In the final minutes of the game, United took the lead thanks to a deft finish from Alejandro Garnacho, which was then followed up by a goal from Fred.
The Irons currently sit in 16th position in the Premier League table, just two points away from the relegation zone – it has been a very underwhelming season so far for the Hammers.
West Ham last won the FA Cup back in 1980, when they were a second-tier outfit, beating Arsenal in the final. They also reached the final in 2006, but were beaten in dramatic fashion by Liverpool.
