Savage Can’t See West Ham Avoiding The Drop For One Important Reason

Robbie Savage does not think West Ham will stay up this season. The BT Sport pundit believes that the Hammers are likely to go down due to the fact they have such a tough run of fixtures.

On his rundown of where teams will finish this season, he expects the London club to end up third from bottom:

“In 18th, will be West Ham on 34 points, they’ve still got to play six of the top 10.”

There is no doubt that David Moyes’ side are going to have to pick up points against teams they are not expected to in order to stay up this campaign.

The next two matches, in particular, are the hardest during the run-in, with away trips to Manchester City and Liverpool separated by a matter of days (thanks to Storm Ciara).

Getting a result in either match would be a big surprise, but even if they don’t pick up any points, they will need to keep their focus with a winnable home game against Southampton before the end of the month.

It really will be “backs against the wall”, and while recent performances haven’t offered supporters any cause for optimism, they will still be very much hoping Savage is proved wrong by the end of the season.
