REVEALED: The LOWEST PAID Player At The Top Six Premier League Clubs

The reason for being the lowest paid player at a Premier League club can be down to a number of different factors.

Youngsters can be promoted to the first team before they are handed a new lucrative long-term contract while signings can be brought in simply to fill homegrown quotas.

Not every team in the Premier League has a player that falls into one of those two categories, though, and there are some first-team stars who are on surprisingly low salaries.

Press the next page as we name the lowest-paid player at each of the clubs in the Premier League top six.

Marcus Bettinelli (Chelsea) – £35K A Week

The goalkeeper was signed on a free transfer from Fulham in the summer for two important reasons. Firstly, he was a replacement for previous third choice Willy Caballero, who left the club in June.

Secondly, as he is English, Bettinelli does fill up one space as part of the home grown quota in Chelsea’s Premier League squad.

Nuno Tavares (Arsenal) – £27K A Week

This one does raise a few eyebrows. The Portuguese left-back was brought in from Benfica for £8m in the summer, and he is already competing for a first-team place.

Despite giving Kieran Tierney a run for his money, though, Tavares is currently the lowest-paid first-team player at the Gunners.

Ben Johnson (West Ham) – £19K A Week

Johnson has been in and around the fringes of the Hammers squad for a couple of years but the injury sustained by Vladimir Coufal earlier this season has led to him coming to prominence as a regular starter.

A new contract for the 21-year-old is expected to be on the way, especially as his current deal expires in the summer, so he is unlikely to be the lowest-paid for very long.

Neco Williams (Liverpool) – £9K A Week

The defender impressed for Wales during the latest international break but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp remains to be convinced that he can be an able deputy at right-back.

When Trent Alexander-Arnold was sidelined with injury earlier this campaign, Klopp picked veteran midfielder James Milner as his understudy.

Liam Delap (Manchester City) – £8K A Week

Although the 18-year-old is very much part of the first-team setup at the Etihad, he has only made a few senior appearances, so the new contract that he signed in August reflected that.

Delap’s potential means he could well earn himself another extension if he makes an impression this season.

Shola Shoretire (Manchester United) – £8K A Week

The teenager has made three senior appearances but the arrival of players like Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer means he is unlikely to get many minutes in the first team.

Shoretire is still impressing for the Under 23s and in the EFL Trophy but the 17-year-old may have to leave Old Trafford on loan to get more experience.
