REPORT: West Ham Willing To Pay Upwards Of £14m For Crocked Congolese Defender

West Ham and Everton are both interested in Galatasaray centre-back Christian Luyindama, according to reports in the Turkish media.

It is believed that the Hammers would be prepared to pay around €15m (14m) for the Republic of Congo international, as they look to reinforce their backline ahead of next season.

Winston Reid is unlikely to play again for the club after moving on loan to Sporting Kansas City, while Fabian Balbuena has performed poorly this season so bringing in a player like Luyindama would make sense.

However, the 26-year-old has been out of action with an anterior cruciate ligament injury since November. This type of knee problem can take a long while to recover from, and it would be a big risk if West Ham were to shell out a sizeable fee on the defender.

The Irons have also been linked with Torino’s Nicolas N’Koulou in recent days which suggests manager David Moyes is indeed on the lookout for another centre-half.
