REPORT: West Ham Vying With Everton For Ex Manchester United Playmaker

Shinji Kagawa

West Ham are interested in Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Shinji Kagawa, according to reports in Turkey.

The Japanese international is currently on loan at Turkish club Besiktas for the rest of the season, but it is believed that the Super Lig side are worried that competition from the Premier League will scupper their plans of signing him permanently.

The Hammers are not the only English club pursuing Kagawa with the former Manchester United player also attracting Everton.

Since moving to Turkey in the January transfer window, the 30-year-old has been in decent form. He scored two goals on his debut in a 6-2 win against Antalyaspor back in early February.

Kagawa has only made two starts in his eight appearances for Besiktas, scoring three goals in total, as well as providing one assist.

The Japanese star’s contract expires in 2020 so he won’t be an expensive purchase, considering Dortmund are keen to get rid of him. Whether he would make an impact at the London Stadium after struggling during his first spell in English football, it remains to be seen.
