West Ham United are believed to be interested in Roma full-back Bryan Reynolds for transfer, according to a report by David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Reynolds has struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho at Roma. This season, the 21-year-old has found himself shipped out on loan to Westerlo, for whom he has made 27 appearances this season. Additionally, he has also scored a single goal and notched up five assists in that time.

A right-back by trade, Reynolds can also function as a left-back and as a right-sided wide midfielder. On top of this, given his imposing physical frame of 6ft 3, he can also theoretically play at centre-back.

Of course, West Ham are not the only club in the hunt for Reynolds’ signature. Westerlo, the club that Reynolds is currently playing for, have reportedly submitted a bid for him – but it has been rejected by Roma.

Furthermore, several unnamed Championship clubs are believed to be in the race. At this point in time, the amount of money that it will take to pry Reynolds away from Roma is unclear.

Reynolds began his footballing career at FC Dallas in his native Texas – he joined their academy in 2015, when he was just 13 years of age.

He signed his first senior contract the following year, making him the Toros’ youngest-ever homegrown player. After a successful loan spell at North Texas SC, where he scored his first senior goal, he finally made his debut for Dallas in 2019 against Los Angeles FC.

He would go on to make 27 appearances for Dallas before being headhunted by Roma. Initially signed on a six-month loan deal, his contract included an option to buy clause – which Roma met, allowing him to join the Italian giants on a permanent basis.
