REPORT: West Ham Target Put Up For Sale For £44m But Italian Giants Have Now Entered The Race

Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata will be put up for sale in the summer, according to reports in Italy.

The Colombian international was said to have been the subject of a bid from West Ham in January, but the offer was rejected by the Serie A side.

It now seems, however, that Inter Milan could rival the Hammers for Zapata’s signature with Mauro Icardi poised to depart the San Siro after being stripped of the captaincy.

Zapata is actually on loan from Sampdoria until the end of the season but Atalanta will be making the move permanent in the summer.

It seems that the Italian club will then offload the 27-year-old for a profit, with a transfer fee in excess of €50m (£44m) being sought.

Zapata has scored 21 goals in 32 appearances for Atalanta this season. He could be an alternative to Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez, who is reportedly a target for the Irons to replace Mark Arnautovic.

The Uruguayan is available for the same price as Zapata with a release clause set at €50m.
