REPORT: West Ham ‘Likely To Arrive’ With ‘Big Cheque’ To Sign 42M Rated Ligue One Star

West Ham and Aston Villa are “likely to arrive” with a “big cheque” this summer as they try and secure the signature of Lille forward Jonathan David, according to But! Football Club.

The French publication claims that the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan have also expressed an interest in the Canadian previously but his poor performances since the New Year have cooled speculation about a potential transfer.

Lille were hoping to sell David for around €50m (£42m) but there is now a feeling that they may retain his services until a time when his value rises again. Whether that means the Ligue One side will reject an approach from the Hammers if they do make a formal bid, we shall have to wait and see.

But! do say that David may be holding out for a bigger club, but West Ham have made huge strides under manager David Moyes over the last two seasons so they could have a chance of persuading the 22-year-old into joining them.
