“Really Good Player…” Ian Wright Delivers Glowing Verdict On West Ham Summer Signing

Ex-West Ham striker Ian Wright has praised his former club for securing the signature of Lucas Paqueta.

The likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City and Newcastle had all been credited with an interest in the Brazilian international, but the Hammers paid an initial £36.5m to secure the player’s signature ahead of their rivals. Wright believes the 25-year-old will be an excellent addition to David Moyes’ squad:

“I think Paqueta. He signed for West Ham. I think he is also going to be a good signing. Really good player, a left-footer for Brazil.”

While Paqueta is undoubtedly a top-drawer player, having been a regular starter for Brazil, fans may have to be patient as the midfielder will need some time to adapt to the Premier League.

He did get his first start against Chelsea last weekend, although he didn’t get many opportunities to demonstrate his attacking qualities, with West Ham sitting behind the ball for the majority of the 90 minutes.

We could, however, see a lot more of Paqueta when the Irons take on Newcastle at home this weekend.
