Pellegrini wants Arsenal star as first West Ham signing

Manuel Pellegrini wants to make Jack Wilshere his first signing as West Ham manager, according to reports.

Pellegrini, who was appointed as the successor to David Moyes last week, is understood to be a big admirer to the English midfielder and believes he can lure him across London.

The Chilean first took notice of Wilshere during his time in charge of Manchester City, and was thought to be close to signing him had it not been for injuries at the time.

Wilshere’s contract with Arsenal expires at the end of this month, meaning he is free to leave the club on a free.

Arsene Wenger had desperately tried to get the 26-year-old to sign a new deal at The Emirates prior his departure from the club, however to no avail, with Wilshere thought to be seeking a fresh challenge after over a decade in North London.

And new Gunners boss Unai Emery has refused to comment on the future of Wilshere, leading to speculation he will allow him to walk away from the club as the Spaniard looks to complete a midfielder overhaul this summer.

West Ham however are not the only ones interested in Wilshere, with both Crystal Palace, as well as newly promoted duo Wolves and Fulham also keen to take on the Englishman.
