Pellegrini insists that the Hammers will improve

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini says his team are on the right path and will improve in the coming weeks.

The Hammers have lost both of their opening Premier League games so far this season, suffering a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool followed by a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth.

It leaves West Ham in a similar position to last season, which is worrying when you consider the amount of money that has been spent this summer.

However, these things take time, and the Chilean boss says he that his side are heading in the right direction as they seek their first points of the season.

“In the first game, I was disappointed with the way we played, but we were playing against a top team in their own stadium,” Pellegrini told reporters.

“I think we improved a lot in the second game, especially in the first 45 minutes, when we played how I want us to play. When we conceded, we had a lot of fear about losing the game. I have said before that we have to change that and I think that will improve.”

The Hammers have reportedly invited former defender James Collins back to train with the club, after he was released at the end of last season.

He still remains a free agent, and could be set to sign for West Ham once again in order to bolster their defence – something that clearly needs doing especially with the injuries they have suffered.
