Pellegrini Gives His Response As He Is Asked About Roberto Selection Decision Ahead Of Chelsea Clash

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has neither confirmed nor denied whether Roberto will be selected in the starting line up when the Hammers face Chelsea on Saturday.

The Spaniard has struggled for form since coming into the side for the injured Lukasz Fabianski and asked whether he is worried about the keeper’s confidence, Pellegrini replied:

“Of course, I am concerned but it is not just about the goalkeeper. Every time you decide your starting XI yo have the complete week to work with them, the technical staff about positives and negative things. We will see, our best starting eleven in all the positions will start the next game.”

David Martin would be in line to come in if Pellegrini decides to replace Roberto this weekend. The former Millwall goalkeeper has not played a single minute for the first team this season and there are obviously doubts among the coaching staff about his suitability.

There have been reports that the Irons have been scouring the free transfer market for potential options but as they only have room for a homegrown player in their squad, the search has proved fruitless.

West Ham fans will be hoping that if Martin does come into the side that he can give a good account of himself in a crucial game at the London Stadium.
