Pellegrini Calls On West Ham To Match Tottenham Display Against Leicester

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini wants his team to replicate their performances against the ‘big six’ when playing sides lower down the table.

The Hammers played well despite losing last time out against Tottenham, while they also came out 3-1 winners when they faced Manchester United recently.

However, Pellegrini is now demanding the same level of commitment when they head to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester tomorrow:

“If you review our fixtures then in the first ten games we played eight teams in the top half, now we have teams that are similar to us.

“That doesn’t guarantee you are going to beat them. Our best games we played were against Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham, Chelsea, the big teams. We must know where we need to improve and play like we did against Tottenham for 90 minutes.”

West Ham will be without seven first-team players for the trip. It has been confirmed that Pedro Obiang will miss the match against the Foxes with a calf strain.

With Andriy Yarmolenko (Achilles), Manuel Lanzini (knee), Carlos Sanchez, (knee), Jack Wilshere (ankle) and Winston Reid (knee) all out for the long term. With Andy Carroll (ankle) also still not match fit, Pellegrini will have to make do with what he has available.

He hinted at yesterday’s pre-match press conference that youngster Grady Diangana could be contention for more game time in the coming weeks. The teenager has made three appearances for the first team already this season.
