Owen Predicts West Ham Are In For Another Difficult Night As They Take On Arsenal

Former England international Michael Owen does not expect West Ham to come away with any points when they travel to face Arsenal at the Emirates this evening.

The Hammers did get a morale-boosting win against Charlton in the Carabao Cup midweek but they were very disappointing in the home defeat to Newcastle last weekend and Owen can’t see their fortunes improving tonight:

“I predicted a top-half finish for West Ham this season but at this moment in time, there appear to be a number of issues at the club both on and off the field. David Moyes was very unhappy with the performance of his team in their 2-0 loss at home to Newcastle United and I’m not sure he will be relishing an away trip to their North London rivals who are in such good form. A comfortable 3-0 victory for the Gunners for me in this one.”

The Gunners are going into the match in confident mood after their 3-0 away win versus Fulham on the opening day, but they are still a work in progress.

West Ham should have got a result when they lost 1-0 in the corresponding fixture last campaign and, during that time, Arsenal have only really brought in one or two new players so there is hope that the Irons could cause just as many problems this time around. Recent form, though, would tend to suggest that Owen is right to be pessimistic about their chances.
