West Ham are in discussions with Flamengo about signing striker Gabriel Barbosa on an eighteen-month loan deal, according to Sky Sports.
The transfer would include an option to buy the 25-year-old for £25m, with the player said to be keen on moving to the Premier League in order to improve his chances of playing for Brazil at the World Cup later this year.
Fans on Twitter are very sceptical about the report, with some not believing Gabigol has the type of personality that manager David Moyes would want in his squad:
Still not convinced there’s any truth in this rumour. By all accounts he’s a sulky hot head. Not a Moyes type player at all #whufc

Maxi Gomez saga all over again! Funny how nothing got mentioned about it & then all of a sudden, bang it gets brought up again! Something funny going on lately with Sky Sports & transfers. Still reckon they orchestrated the Chris Wood transfer by mentioning the ‘ buy out clause!’

Well we played Haller where and in the way he needed to be to get the best from him 🤔Makes you wonder why it’s taking so long to get another top class (which Haller definitely is) player to replace him. Gabigol may be the answer as there’s not much difference between 1/2

At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation from sources in Brazil that Gabigol is even being targeted by the Hammers so take this report from Sky Sports with a large pinch of salt.
The London club have been trying to sign a new striker for the best part of a year, since the departure of Sebastien Haller, but little progress has been made. Whether they have finally decided on Gabigol being the player they want, we shall have to wait and see.
