“No Player Is Unsellable…” Club Chief Speaks Out After West Ham Are Linked With 10M Rated Rice Replacement

Mainz sporting director Christian Heidel has confirmed that the Bundesliga side will consider bids for West Ham target Anton Stach.

The Hammers, along with Liverpool and Tottenham, have been mentioned as potential suitors for the 24-year-old and, while Heidel says he has not had contact with any interested clubs, the player could be allowed to leave for the right price:

“We haven’t gotten anything from the whole circus yet. No one has reported (their interest) yet. So the topic is not currently on the table. For Mainz 05 no player is unsellable. In such cases, you have to weigh the economic factors against the sporting. It also depends on what the player wants. And then you make a decision.”

Stach has a year left on his contract at Mainz but the German club are believed to have an option to extend his current deal for an additional twelve months. It means they can still hold out for a decent fee, with reports suggesting that they could sell for around £10m.

The German is a holding midfield player by trade, and some have already suggested that he may be the target that West Ham are lining up to replace captain Declan Rice.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all keen on the England international, who could be sold when the summer transfer window opens.
